Simón Coll Chocolatiers have a long and interesting history as a family-run business. They have been perfecting their chocolate since 1840, with six generations contributing to maintaining the spirit of their trade. This transfer of the culture of chocolate and cocoa down the generations is unique and unprecedented.
These very special chocolatiers create all of their products using artisan methods and have a commitment to being both ethical and environmentally responsible.
Generations of chocolate-making refinement and development
Founder, Simón Mestres, was the son of winemakers. He wanted to start a new business related to the production of chocolate. He created his own formulas, which soon became the main attraction for Casa Simón’s clientele. Three decades later, in a space adjacent to the workshop, a mechanized production process began, which gave rise to a varied range of products of superior quality and the "first chocolate factory".
Establishing themselves as an artisan chocolate producer, more family members joined and enhanced this special business, including Miquel Coll, who was a pastry chef as well as a chocolatier. And also, Xavier Coll, son of Miquel and fifth generation of the family, who incorporated an emblematic brand from Barcelona, Chocolate Amatller, into the Simón Coll company.
Today, the current CEO of the company is Maria Coll, representing the sixth generation of the Coll family to run this inspiring business.
