The Producer
Iconic and Family-Run
As a fifth generation, 130 year family-run business, a relentless pioneering spirit has been running through the William Grant & Sons stills and beyond, since the first drop flowed on Christmas Day in 1887.
Beginning with revolutionary methods and practices, their innovative approach to whisky production started their ongoing innovation, passion and creativity, for everything they now create.
It has lead to a celebrated luxury portfolio, which includes some of the world’s most iconic spirits brands, including The Balvenie.
They also have the William Grant Foundation with its vision of creating " a Scotland where everyone has the opportunity to thrive", through strengthening local communities and giving opportunities to those who are disadvantaged, as well as sustaining the unique culture and heritage of Scotland.
The Products
The World's Best-Known Spirits
William Grant & Sons produce some of the world's best-known spirits, including Glenfiddich and Hendrick's Gin.
They are also producer of The Balvenie – a unique range of single malts created by David Stewart MBE. The Balvenie Malt Master was awarded an MBE for services to the Scotch whisky industry by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016.
As of 2022, Kelsey McKechnie was promoted to Malt Master and works alongside David Stewart. Each expression has a very individual taste, but is rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie.
The Balvenie is dedicated to the five rare crafts that are used to create The Balvenie’s distinctive taste. It is the only distillery that still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both coppersmiths and coopers on site – making The Balvenie the most handcrafted of single malts.
A bottle of The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 year whisky can be found in both our Premium Whisky and Food Gift Basket, as well as our Whisky, Glasses and Whisky Stones Gift - a wonderful keepsake gift option.
