Introducing the award-winning gin

The star of the show in The Gin Lover’s Cream Tea Hamper is a specially chosen bottle of award-winning Ranscombe Wild Small Batch Gin.

From The Maidstone Distillery, this is a herbaceous, sweet citrus and floral gin. It was designed to “reflect the spontaneity of nature”. And adventures in the wild are reflected in the journey of notes and flavours you experience when you taste this unique spirit.

The gin is multi-award winning, plus, the distillery itself also has a story to tell. The Maidstone Distillery is based in the heart of Kent. They pride themselves on using botanicals from the local area and reclaimed recipes from the past.

They have also won an award for their sustainability. This gin distillery is run on 100% green energy, uses plastic-free packaging only and also offers a bottle refill service. In addition, they also work in partnership with an environmental charity. All of these accolades make us very proud to offer a bottle of their special Ranscombe Gin, in this hamper.

To ensure we draw out the flavour experience, The Gin Lover’s Cream Tea Hamper also includes two bottles of Franklin & Son’s tonics. Your gift recipient will find both a traditional Indian tonic – offering a delicate blend of sparkling Staffordshire spring water, natural cinchona bark extract from Ecuador and the finest British sugar – for a classic G&T. Plus, there is a bottle of Elderflower and Cucumber Tonic Water. It is a slightly sweet and refreshing tonic water with the hint of cucumber, that provides a wonderful fresh cut through the subtle bitterness of quinine.

They both pair amazingly well with the gin.

Now, that we covered the gin and tonics, let us focus on the more traditional element of a very special cream tea…

Offering the best scones, clotted cream and jam

The three ingredients for a delicious cream tea have to be fruit scones, Cornish clotted cream and strawberry jam. And in this cream tea hamper, we haven’t dared to mess with the traditional and the best.

Our fruit scones are generous in size, fluffy, light and full of fruit.

The Gin Lover’s Cream Tea Hamper also offers two pots of Cornish Clotted Cream by Roddas - classic clotted cream handmade in Cornwall using local creamy Cornish milk and traditional methods, and with a golden crust on top.

Finally, the delightfully named - Thursday Cottage Strawberry Jam – tastes utterly divine thanks to the care and traditional methods used to make this special preserve. This jam is handmade in small batches and then hand-poured into jars. This ensures you get the most amount of whole fruit possible in the finished product. The difference in the taste, texture and experience when paired with the scones and cream is incredible.

Now, the only thing to decide upon is whether it’s cream or jam first…let the debate begin!

Providing the warming, welcoming tea

Alongside the cool gin and tonic, we feel it’s still important to have a special pot of tea to enjoy as part of a traditional cream tea.

This is why The Gin Lover’s Cream Tea Hamper includes not only the ingredients for a delicious G&T but also a whole box of New English Tea Afternoon Tea.

This classic English Afternoon Tea is aromatic and full of flavour. It will complement the scones and sweet treats, as well as accompanying sandwiches and pastries, should you take your cream tea and turn it into a fully catered afternoon tea.

The tea is so delicious that it can be enjoyed on its own, with a slice of lemon, or with the addition of traditional milk (and perhaps a little sugar if you like your tea warming and sweet).
